Gothic Lolita, Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocratic styles influencing Gothic Designers in the West
The Gothic Lolita styles in Japan emphasize girlishness, while Elegant Gothic Lolita (EGL) is the mature version that combines the elegance of Victorianism, the darkness of Gothic horror and the cuteness of Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) is the androgynous version of EGL.
Within Western cultures, Goth ranges from the Victorian-inspired influences for Romantic Goths, to the bondage-inspired styles of Industrial Goths, to the futuristic elements of rave fashion for Cyber Goths. 1. Both the Lolita Goth and Elegant Gothic Lolita makeup are pale complexions, darker shades of red lipstick, with black eyelashes and black eyeliner for a youthful and doll-like appearance.
2. Women’s hairstyles are soft and big, inspired from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, while men's hairstyles are coifed.
3. For men and women whether Gothic Lolita (Gothic Brolita for males), EGL or EGA, ruffled and elegant Victorianesque blouses or shirts.
4. An appreciation for refined and romantic styles, such as knee-length frilly poofy skirts, usually with a crinoline.
5. Dresses and skirts are worn with knee-high or thigh high stockings, with little bows and ruffles at the top or in black fishnet.
6. For an evenings out, satin corsets or overbusts over black blouses. A tux with or without tails for men in white, grey or black.
7. For women, headdresses are a must in black or black and white. Or wear a small top hat worn askew on the head.
8. For men, a top hat on the head. Lace chokers for women and cuff links for men.
9. Mary Jane platform heels on women or for both men and women large platform shoes or boots to complete the look.
10. And most importantly, refined and elegant manners to go with the Gothic Lolita / Elegant Gothic Lolita / Elegant Gothic Aristocrat styles.
